My name is Alex Waltz.
I’m a motherfucking Bitcoiner and film maker.

I like to tell stories Bitcoin stories with a camera.
The best compliment I ever got: “idealistic idiosyncratic auto-didact”.

The past

I heard about Bitcoin in ’12 on 4chan while I was a Computer Science student.
I immediately[1]Truth be told I gave up on college a year before, but I was hanging around quit CS, and ever since then every waking second of my life was about Bitcoin.

Over the years I have been involved in multiple projects ranging from mining(mined in the dorm rooms, been a part of 3 mining operations) to building apps(none of which took off), and more recently I had an OTC desk in London, which I closed down to pursue film making.
Until very recently I used to co-organize the Bitcoinology meetup with waxwing.

For the last 2 years, I have been focusing on filmmaking.

I really like to meditate, and I think is one of the best things I started doing in my life.
I also play guitar for 14 years.

I belive, this conversation I had with Phil, really puts into perspective how I approach life.

Quote that I REALLY like:

  • “People who label other people perfectionists are just lazy.” – David Fincher
  • “Mass is not a criterion for quality.” – Andrei Tarkovsky
  • “The poet is intimate with truth while the scientists approaches it awkwardly.” – from Autobiography of a Yogi
